How I Help
Sense of fit…
There are so many therapies out there! It can be overwhelming to know who or what modality to work with. Yet, it might help to know threads of common themes weave throughout the different therapies, like promoting awareness, self-understanding, addressing fears, and working with inner distress and outer conflict. And just as there are common themes in therapies, I believe we all share in common a need to be seen, heard, valued, understood, and connected in ways that feel good and true to us. Therapy offers a place to not only address what is distressing you, it also offers a landing space for feeling into that which is good and true for you. As you explore pursuing therapy, reach out for a free consultation. We’ll find a time where we can talk and see if working together feels like a good fit.
A bit on how I help…
I facilitate the co-creation of a collaborative, therapeutic process for you. In our work, I integrate a blend of therapies informed by mindfulness-based, experiential, body-oriented, and emotion-focused frameworks. All therapies are applied through a trauma-informed lens. The session’s focus unfolds from various aspects like what is present for you, or what you want to reflect on, process, go toward, or explore. Sometimes, you might not know what to focus on. That is welcome, too. At times, I may invite you to consider aspects of your experience. I trust your choice whether or not you accept the invitation!
Throughout our work, we honor your pace, lead, and knowing. As we listen and give attention to what is present, information surfaces that guides the continued flow and content of the work. I see the therapeutic process as an art informed by science, and I trust in its’ creative nature. I believe that within each of us resides a dynamic source of inner wisdom, innate capacity, deep compassion, and an inborn impulse toward healing, growth, and transformation.
When we grow our ability to approach ourselves with care and curiosity, I believe we open up a process of coming to know ourselves more fully, where qualities like self-trust, self-appreciation, clarity, courage, groundedness, resilience, authenticity, and creativity become more available to us.
What might a session look like? What it will look like will be unique to you! Here are some possible experiences in therapy:
Supporting and engaging with you as you talk through your concerns or aspirations.
Identifying practices or resources that feel useful and supportive to you.
Using mindful attention as you notice and explore your thoughts, feelings, sensations, or impulses, which may then lead you to new information, insights, and meaning, or perhaps foster processing and integrating life experiences.
Making space to hear from your history, memories, or images that may arise and shine a light on self-protective patterns that may be limiting you.
Addressing obstacles to patterns you may want to shift.
Learning about your nervous system, emotional regulation, and sensory preferences as a way to enhance your well-being and abilities in navigating daily life.
Honoring and attending to loss.
Varied is the work that happens within the therapeutic relationship. What you and I craft together will be specific to you. I hope to offer you a process infused with trust, safety, and warmth. One that supports and encourages who you are and what you want to address and experience in therapy.
Bringing curiosity inside…
Sometimes, we just need help finding our inner resources. In or out of therapy, going inside and getting curious about what is there often initiates or facilitates the process of living into greater alignment with who you are, what you value, and how you engage with the people and experiences in your life. Reach out if you’d like to explore working together.
For the time being, I offer online individual sessions only.
